A Beautiful Reminder

One of the hardest things to get over in life is the lost of a loved one. It is even harder if it is your child that died. That's exactly what happened Kayla Campbell when her 5-year-old daughter, Ashley, died after battling cancer for two years. Kayla talked to me about the bitter/sweet time she spent with Ashley during those final years. "It was like rediscovering who my daughter was all over again", she said.

Ashley's passing took a toll on Kayla physically. She initially gained a lot of weight and then she lost a lot of weight. The physical deterioration, coupled with the emotional rollercoaster of the grieving process, made things extremely tough for Kayla. She decided to get a tattoo in the memory of Ashley.  "I’m not a tattoo person," she said. She chose to get a butterfly on her left shoulder because Ashley loved butterflies. Kayla made it clear that she was not one hundred percent happy with the tattoo itself, later stating that she wants to have it retouched, but what that tattoo means to her is priceless.
